Managing Your Account Information
The Account Information page allows you to manage your personal profile within SmoothHiring. Here you can update your name, email, timezone, notification preferences, and profile photo.
Navigating to Account Information
- Direct URL:
/employer/settings/account/account-information - Navigation: Click Settings in the left sidebar > Account Information tab (the first tab).
Profile Fields
The following fields are available on your Account Information page:

Updating Your Profile
Changing Your Name
- Navigate to Settings > Account Information.
- Edit the First Name and/or Last Name fields.
- Click Save to apply changes.
Your updated name will appear across the platform — in the Dashboard greeting, on scorecards, in interview invitations, and in team lists.
Changing Your Email
- Edit the Email Address field.
- Ensure the email is valid (the system validates the format).
- Click Save.
Important: Your email is also your login credential. If you change it, use the new email the next time you log in.
Setting Your Timezone
- Open the Timezone dropdown.
- Search or scroll to find your timezone.
- Select it and click Save.
Your timezone affects:
- Dashboard greeting (Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening)
- Interview scheduling times
- Notification timestamps
- Calendar event display
Tip: If your timezone is not set, SmoothHiring will attempt to guess it from your browser settings.
Profile Photo
Uploading a Photo
- Click the Upload button (or the camera icon) near your avatar.
- Select an image file from your computer.
- The image is automatically compressed and uploaded.
- Your new photo appears immediately across the platform.
Photo Guidelines
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG
- The image is automatically compressed for optimal display
- Photos appear as circular avatars throughout the platform
- If no photo is uploaded, your initials are displayed with a generated background color
Notification Preferences
Applicant Notifications
Toggle the Applicant Notifications switch to control whether you receive email alerts when:
- A new candidate applies to one of your jobs
- A candidate completes their application
When enabled, you'll get timely notifications helping you respond to candidates quickly.
Account Setup Progress
On the Dashboard, an Account Setup Progress bar tracks how complete your profile is. The progress is calculated based on:
- First name and last name are filled in
- Email is provided
- Timezone is set
Completing all three brings your account setup to 100%.
Saving Changes
- Click the Save button to persist any changes.
- A success message confirms your updates were applied.
- If there's an error (e.g., invalid email format), an error message appears explaining the issue.
Tips
Tip: Keep your timezone up to date, especially if you travel. This ensures interview invitations show the correct local time for candidates.
Tip: Enable Applicant Notifications if you manage active jobs to stay responsive to new candidates.
Tip: Upload a profile photo so your team members can easily identify you in scorecard submissions, comments, and activity feeds.
