Employee separation is the offboarding record for one person: when it starts, who does each activity, and the exit interview summary. Open Employee Separation under Lifecycle & Compliance. The list title is Employee Separations.

Columns are Employee, Begins, and Status. Search reads Search.... An empty list is titled No employee separations yet and reads Manage resignations, terminations, and offboarding. Choose New Employee Separation.

Start a separation

  1. Choose New Employee Separation. The form title is New Employee Separation, and the status chip reads Pending.
  2. Choose Employee. That field is required. Employee Name, Department, Designation, and Resignation Letter Date stay read-only.
  3. Set Separation Begins On. That date is required.
  4. Choose Employee Separation Template when you want a reusable checklist.
  5. Turn on Notify Users by Email when the assignees should get email.
  6. Under Separation Activities, choose Add Row for each task. Activity Name is required. Set Role to HR User, Manager, or Employee. Enter Begin On (Days), Duration (Days), Task Weight, and Description. Set the row Status to Pending, In Process, or Completed.
  7. Enter Exit Interview Summary when you have it.
  8. Choose Create Employee Separation.

The confirmation is Employee Separation created. Status stays Pending, In Process, or Completed and you do not type it yourself.

You can also start from the employee’s Connections list, under Lifecycle, using + on Separations.

Update the checklist

Open the separation and change activities or the exit interview summary, then Save. The confirmation is Changes saved. Saving… shows while it stores.

Save with nothing new says No changes to save. If Employee or Separation Begins On is missing, the message names those fields and nothing is created. A failed save says Save failed. Your edits are still here.
