Enroll in a benefit
Enrollment puts one employee on one benefit plan. Create the plan first, then the enrollment. Open Benefit Plan and Benefit Enrollment under Travel & Benefits. An enrollment does not create a salary slip.
- Open Benefit Plan. Click New Benefit Plan.
- Enter Plan Name and Plan Type. Both are required. Plan Type is Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, 401(k) / Retirement, Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Paid Time Off, or Other.
- Provider/Carrier, Is Active, and Description are optional. Click Create Benefit Plan.
- Open Benefit Enrollment. Click New Benefit Enrollment.
- Choose Employee and Benefit Plan. Enter Selected Option, Enrollment Date, and Effective Date. Those are required. Plan Type and Employee Name fill in and stay read-only.
- Set Coverage Level to Employee Only, Employee + Spouse, Employee + Children, or Employee + Family. Status is Pending, Active, Terminated, or Waived.
- Click Create Benefit Enrollment.
What you should see
Benefit Plans lists the plan name. An empty plan list says “Define health, dental, and other benefit offerings.” Benefit Enrollments shows Name and Status. An empty enrollment list says “Enroll employees in benefit plans during open enrollment.”
Employee Cost (per pay period) and Employer Cost (per pay period) are amounts on the enrollment. They do not generate a salary component or a salary slip.
If something looks wrong
Create Benefit Plan names Plan Name or Plan Type when one is empty.
Create Benefit Enrollment names Employee, Benefit Plan, Selected Option, Enrollment Date, or Effective Date when one is empty.
Benefit Plan has no choices until Benefit Plan has a saved plan. Create the plan, then return to the enrollment.
