Offered shifts

An employee offers a published shift to a coworker from Requests. Offered shifts need a manager is a switch on Scheduling. When it is on, an offered shift stays waiting until a scheduler approves it. Publishing a schedule does not create pay.
- Open Requests, then Swap or offer.
- Choose Your shift.
- Choose Offer to, then Offer.
The page says: Give a published shift to a coworker, or trade it for one of theirs. Only people and shifts that fit both schedules are listed. Swap for and Swap are on the same page when you are trading shifts instead of offering one.
To require a manager:
- Open Settings, then Scheduling.
- In Schedule rules, turn on Offered shifts need a manager. The helper says this is separate from swaps, and that an offered shift stays waiting until a scheduler approves it.
- Choose Save rules.
What you should see
Offer confirms with Request sent. The row under Status says Offer, the shift, both people, and Waiting on coworker.
The coworker sets that status to Approved or Declined. The confirmation says Updated. The person who sent it can set Cancelled while it is waiting.
When the switch is on, a coworker’s approval moves the offer to Waiting on manager. A scheduler opens Open Shifts, then Change requests, and sets it to Approved or Declined. The empty state there says swaps and offers land here once the coworker accepts.
Save rules confirms with Scheduling settings saved.
If something looks wrong
With no published shifts, the page says No shift changes yet: After a scheduler publishes your shifts, you can offer one to a coworker or swap. If you have history but nothing upcoming, it says No published shifts: Once a scheduler publishes your week, you can offer a shift or swap with a coworker.
Offer stays unavailable until Offer to is set. An empty coworker list says No one else is in your department yet, or No coworkers are free for this shift. A failed send says Could not send the request.
Swaps need a manager is the other switch. It covers swaps. Offered shifts need a manager covers offers.
