I think one of the greatest issues as it pertains to the candidate experience is that most hiring processes are built for the “mass” candidate, instead of building an easy hiring process for the “best” candidates. The best candidates often dislike just sending in a resume online because it makes them feel like one of the herd.
So what if the hiring process itself were to be built around actually attracting and engaging the best candidates, instead of being concerned with filtering-out unfit candidates? In my experience, when people spend too much time thinking about what they don’t want, it takes energy away from what they do want. How many accidents happen from people rubber-necking on the highway?
Which is the bigger issue: (i) too many unfit candidates or (ii) too few of the best candidates?
