Goals are the objectives you track for a person, a team, or the company. Open **Goal** under **Performance**. The list title is **Goals**.

The list shows **Goal**, **Employee**, **Progress**, and **Status**. Search with **Search goals...**. An empty list offers **New Goal**.

## Create a goal

1. Choose **New Goal**. You can also use **New goal** on [Performance](/hrms/performance/overview).
2. Enter **Goal**. That name is required.
3. Set **Goal Type** to **Individual**, **Team**, or **Company**. A new goal starts as **Individual**.
4. Choose **Employee** when the goal belongs to one person. Link a **Parent Goal**, an **Appraisal Cycle**, or a **KRA** when you already have those records.
5. Set **Status** to **Open**, **In Progress**, **Completed**, or **Archived**. A new goal starts as **Open**.
6. Under **Progress**, enter **Progress %**, **Starts On**, and **Ends On**.
7. Add a **Description**, then choose **Create Goal**.

You land on the saved goal. The confirmation is **Goal created**. On the list, the goal name, employee, progress, and status are the columns you can sort.

## Update progress

Open the goal and change **Progress %** or **Status**, then **Save**. The confirmation is **Changes saved**. **Goal progress** on Performance uses this percent.

**Save** with nothing new shows **No changes to save**. If **Goal** is empty, the message is **Goal is required** and the goal is not saved. A failed save says **Save failed. Your edits are still here.**

## KRAs

A **KRA** is a key result area you reuse on goals and appraisal templates. Open **KRA** under **Performance**. The list title is **KRAs**, the column is **KRA**, and search reads **Search...**.

1. Choose **New KRA**.
2. Enter **Title**. That field is required.
3. Add a **Description**.
4. Choose **Create KRA**.

Open the KRA later and **Save** to change the title or description. Then, on a goal, choose that record in **KRA**.
