A salary slip is the pay record for one employee and one period. You create it from **Generate Salary Slip**. This list is where you review it, submit it, mark it paid, or cancel it.

Recording attendance or publishing a schedule does not add a row here.

## Open the list

Open **Payroll**, then **Salary Slip**.

The list is titled **Salary Slips**. Columns are **Employee**, **From**, **To**, **Net Pay**, and **Status**. Search uses **Search...**. An empty list says to generate and review payslips for each pay run. **New Salary Slip** opens **Generate Salary Slip**.

The same slips appear on the employee record. Open the employee, then **Connections**, then **Pay and expenses**, then **Pay slips**. There is no add button there.

## On a slip

The title is **Salary Slip** plus its number, with a status chip.

You should see:

- **Employee**, **Salary Structure**, and **Status** (**Draft**, **Submitted**, **Paid**, or **Cancelled**)
- **Posting Date**, **Start Date**, and **End Date**
- **Gross Pay**, **Total Deduction**, and **Net Pay**
- **Earnings & Deductions**, with a read-only **Components** table: **Component**, **Type**, and **Amount**
- A line for **Payment days** out of the working days in the period, then **Gross**, **Deduction**, and **Net**

The components table cannot be edited on the slip. To change amounts, cancel this slip, fix the salary structure or the attendance, and generate again.

A leave type with vacation pay can add a component named **Vacation pay**.

## Move the status

Buttons depend on the status.

| Status | Buttons |
| --- | --- |
| Draft | **Submit**, **Mark Paid**, **Cancel** |
| Submitted | **Mark Paid**, **Cancel** |
| Paid | **Cancel** |
| Cancelled | none |

1. Review the amounts while the slip is **Draft**.
2. Click **Submit**. The notice says **Submitted**. The button shows **Submitting…** while it runs.
3. When the payment has been made, click **Mark Paid**. The notice says **Marked paid**, and the status becomes **Paid**. This records the status. It does not transfer money.
4. Click **Cancel** to set the status to **Cancelled**. The notice says **Cancelled**. The button shows **Cancelling…** while it runs. You can cancel a draft, a submitted slip, or a paid slip. You cannot cancel a slip that is already cancelled.

**Mark Paid** is also available on a draft if you are skipping submit.

## What can go wrong

- **Only draft salary slips can be submitted.** The slip is already submitted, paid, or cancelled.
- **Only submitted salary slips can be marked paid.** A cancelled slip cannot be marked paid. Draft and submitted slips can.
- **Salary slip is already cancelled.**
- The notice says **Action failed** or **Failed to load** when the slip cannot be opened or updated.
- Generate refuses a second slip for the same employee and overlapping dates unless the existing one is **Cancelled**.
