# Send a document to sign

Sending asks someone to sign a document you already saved as a template. Open **Signature Template**, **Signature Request**, and **Signature Envelope** under Digital Signatures.

1. Open **Signature Template** and confirm the template exists and is active. Title, Document Type, and Template Type are required on a template. Document Type is Offer Letter, Employment Contract, NDA, Policy Acknowledgment, or Other. Template Type is PDF Upload or HTML Template.
2. Open **Signature Request**. Click **New Signature Request**. The page says “Save the request before sending the signing link.”
3. Choose Signature Template. Enter Signer Name and Signer Email. Those are required. Click **Create Signature Request**.
4. Click **Send for Signature**.

For more than one signer, open **Signature Envelope**. Choose Signature Template. Set Routing to Parallel or Sequential. Under Signers, click **Add Row** and enter Name, Email, and Role. Those three are required on the row. Click **Create Signature Envelope**, then **Send for Signature**.

You can also start a request from the employee. Open **Connections**, then Documents, then the + on Signature requests.

## What you should see

A new request says “Signature Request created.” Status is Draft. **Send for Signature** shows **Sending…**, then “Signature request sent.” Status becomes Sent. While status is Sent or Viewed, the button is **Resend link**. It is hidden when status is Signed.

An envelope uses **Resend links** when status is Sent or Partially Signed. Envelope status can be Draft, Sent, Partially Signed, Fully Executed, Expired, or Cancelled.

## If something looks wrong

**Create Signature Request** names Signature Template, Signer Name, or Signer Email when one is empty.

**Send for Signature** is not on a new unsaved request. Create it first. “Send failed” means the link was not sent. Status stays where it was. Click **Send for Signature** or **Resend link** again.

An empty request list uses **New Signature Request**.
