# Weekly patterns

A weekly pattern is one person’s saved week that you can copy onto a date range. Applying it writes draft shifts. It does not publish, and it does not create pay.

1. Open **Assign shifts**.
2. Open **More** and choose **Weekly patterns**.
3. Choose **Staff**, enter a **Pattern name**, and set **Repeat** to **Every week**, **Every 2 weeks**, **Every 3 weeks**, or **Every 4 weeks**.
4. Set **Week to save**, then choose **Save this week as a pattern**. When a person is selected, the button uses their name.
5. Choose that week under **Weekly pattern**, set **Starting** and **Through**, and choose **Apply pattern**.

Settings → Scheduling also has a **Weekly patterns** link to the saved list.

## What you should see

The confirmation says the pattern was applied and how many shifts were created. Those shifts are on the Assign shifts grid. Staff cannot see them until you publish the month.

Suggest assignments is a different button. It fills open coverage. Weekly patterns copies a saved week.

## If something looks wrong

**Apply pattern** needs a pattern, a person, and dates that are not in the past. **Starting** cannot be before today.

If the dialog says staff cannot see this month yet, that is the draft status. Choose **Publish** or **Publish updates** when the month should be visible.
