# Suggest assignments

Suggest assignments writes draft shifts only. Nothing is published, and staff are not notified. Publishing later does not create pay.

1. Open **Assign shifts**.
2. Choose **Suggest assignments**.
3. Set **From** and **Through**. Leave **Also fill unclaimed open shifts** as you need it. Leave **Allow hours over the weekly cap** off unless you mean to allow those hours. The note says pay is not estimated.
4. Choose **Suggest assignments** in the dialog.
5. Review each row. Choose **Skip** to leave a row out, or change **Person** when another name is offered.
6. Choose **Add 3 to draft**. The number is how many rows you kept.

## What you should see

The dialog says nothing is published, and staff are not notified. Coverage shows what was needed, what was already scheduled, what this suggestion adds, and what is still open.

After you add the rows, the grid shows the new draft shifts. **Undo this suggestion** removes that add. Staff still do not see the month until you publish it.

## If something looks wrong

The dialog says to set coverage targets, and the schedule was not changed. Choose **Set coverage targets**, choose **Save**, then suggest again.

**Add 0 to draft** stays unavailable when nothing new was proposed. Choose **Suggest again** to try another set. If the suggestion stopped early, narrow **From** and **Through**.
