This page is for employees. Home can still offer **Check in** on a day with no shift. The day line and the chip are different. A check-in is not pay.

![A day with no shift](/files/help/employee-check-in-2.mp4 "Check in on a day with no shift. The day line can still say you are not scheduled.")

1. Open **Employee Portal**, then **Home**.
2. Read the line under your name, then **Next 7 days**.
3. Choose **Check in** when you start, even if that line says you are off.

## What you should see

With no shift, and before you check in, the day line can say **Off today**. A holiday shows the holiday name. Time off shows **Time off** and the type. **Next 7 days** marks those days **Off**, **Not published**, the holiday, or the time off.

After you check in with no shift that day, the day line reads **Checked in · not scheduled today**. The chip still says **Checked in at** and a time, and the button is **Check out**.

That day line stays about the shift. It does not replace the chip.

If nothing is on the schedule yet, **Next 7 days** can say HR hasn’t published this schedule yet, or that nothing is scheduled through the last day shown.

## If something looks wrong

**Checked in · not scheduled today** means the check-in saved and there is no shift. Choose **Check out** when you leave. The chip then says **Checked out at**.

If the day says **Not published**, the month is still a draft. Your shifts show after someone publishes.

If **Check in** is missing, the time clock is off for you. The day line is still the schedule.
