# Discard unpublished changes

Discard changes puts the month back. If staff already have a published version, it returns to that. If the month is still a draft, it returns to the last saved draft. Discarding does not publish and does not create pay.

1. Open **Assign shifts** for the month you want to undo.
2. Choose **Discard changes**. It is on the toolbar only when this page differs from the version you would return to.
3. Read the list of changes. Choose **Discard changes** in the dialog. Choose **Close** to keep the page as it is.

## What you should see

The dialog title is Discard changes to the month you are on. If a published month exists, it says this goes back to the published version staff see. Otherwise it names the draft version and when it was saved.

Afterward, a confirmation says how many changes were discarded, and that a backup is in Schedule versions. Open **More** and choose **Schedule versions** if you need that backup back.

## If something looks wrong

**Discard changes** is missing when there is nothing unpublished to undo. The chip is Published and the page matches what staff see.

If someone else changed the month while the dialog was open, the discard stops and the list refreshes. Read it again, then choose **Discard changes** or **Close**.
