This page is for employees. The chip next to **Time clock** is how you see the check-in. It shows a time. It is not pay.

![See that you are checked in](/files/help/employee-check-in-2.mp4 "After Check in saves, Time clock shows Checked in at and the button is Check out.")

1. Open **Employee Portal**, then **Home**.
2. Look at **Time clock**.
3. Read the chip, then the button beside it.

## What you should see

After a saved check-in, the chip says **Checked in at** and a time, and the button is **Check out**. A **Checked in** confirmation appears when the check-in first saves.

After a saved check-out, the chip says **Checked out at** and a time, and the button is **Check in**.

Before either one today, there is no chip, and the button is **Check in**.

If you checked in yesterday and have not checked out, the chip still says **Checked in at** with that earlier time, and the button stays **Check out**, including after midnight.

The day line under your name can still say you are not scheduled. The chip is the check-in. The day line is the shift.

## If something looks wrong

The chip does not change when the request fails. A failed check-in leaves the notice **Check-in failed**. You stay on **Check in**.

**Time clock** is missing when check-in is off for you. Ask someone in HR if you should be checking in.

See [Check in](/hrms/attendance/check-in-from-home) and [Check out](/hrms/attendance/check-out-from-home).
