Mark your “star” candidates with the new Applicant Rating feature

Hi there!

Today we’ve got some good news about another improvement winging it’s way to you! We release improvements every two weeks here at ClearFit, and we hope they make your day a little bit brighter :).

Here’s a little story you told us:

You’re in the “hiring zone”. You’re reviewing all the applicants and you see some with potential.

Then…BLAM! Something distracts you. Later, you come back to ClearFit and…uh oh, who were those gems again? Was Sally any good? Mark or Marcus? Hmm, you wonder… if only there was a way to identify those gems.

In the hiring zone

(thanks to Marvel for the free comic generator :))

Well we have answered your wishes! As of today, we’ve added Ratings to your Employer Dashboard.

Here are the nitty-gritty details.

What is a Rating?

Ratings is the ability to add “stars” to any applicant on your job (from 1 to 5 stars). Ratings can help you stay super-organized in your hiring process, allowing you to know who you’ve reviewed and who’s up next.

What does a one star mean vs. a 5 star? Whatever your heart desires! We like to think a 5 star is that person who rocks your socks, the one you want to interview immediately!

How to add a Rating

By default every applicant has “no stars”, and by clicking on the five stars beside the candidate’s name, you can rate them however you wish. It’s like waving a magic wand and organizing your life just a little bit more.

You can click on the stars from both the applicant view of a particular job, or from their full profile.

Add a rating

What if you change your mind?

By clicking on the stars, you can change the rating of the person. You can’t mark them as unread yet, but have no fear! That’s on the list for a future improvement.

How to sort by a rating

On top of the applicant list, there are a few ways to sort your applicants: by Job Fit, Alphabetical, Most Recent, and now by rating.

By clicking on the ratings sort, you can see the unrated at the top. With a second click you can see those highest rated candidates that dazzled you.

What’s up next?

Our team is hard at work to get you more applicants faster and make your hiring experience even better. More details soon (We don’t want to steal our own thunder…)

Of course if you have any questions, please reach out! Call us at 1-877-789-8767 or contact your hiring coach directly.

Until next time, Happy hiring!

New Feature: Find employees with the skills you need faster with our new resume keyword tool

ClearFit already makes it super easy to instantly identify which applicants have what it takes to succeed. In fact, ClearFit is proven to be five times more effective at predicting job success than traditional hiring – yea!

But from time to time there are certain roles where having specific skills or experience is an important factor in your hiring decision. In those cases, you want the applicants that are not only a fit, but also have the critical skills and experience you need to be at the top of your list.

Well now you can, with our new resume keyword tool!

Promoting candidates with relevant experience to the top of your list

In addition to our existing personality and skills questions, the resume keyword feature allows you to evaluate applicants based on specific keywords found in their resume. This means that applicants who are a fit and also have the selected keywords in their resume will rank higher in your results. That gets them to the top of your list and can save you hours scouring through hundreds of resumes.

How the resume keyword tool works

When you’re creating your job, you’ll now see a section called “Keywords” on the Job Details page. We’ve pre-populated it with a list of keywords relevant to the job (since we have thousands of jobs in our system, this took a while!). You can also add or remove keywords to your heart’s content.

Tip: If it is an entry level job or a role where specific skills or experience are not required, we recommend removing all keywords to get a pure read on which

applicants are a best overall fit for the role.

Now when candidates apply, ClearFit will identify who’s a great fit and then move those applicants that also have the chosen keywords up on your list so you can find the right person faster.

On the baseball card of each applicant, you’ll see if they have a strong or weak resume at a glance.

Something really cool is that at any time in the hiring process, you can modify the keywords by editing your job. This instantly reevaluates all applicants based on the keywords you change!

How to use the resume keyword tool for best results

At ClearFit, our mission is to help you get the right people into the right roles quickly and easily. In many cases, specific skills or experience are not the best indicators of fit – in fact, they are often the cause of bad hiring decisions. That said, sometimes you need to bring in someone with skills or experience in hand. The resume keyword tool can be a huge advantage in those cases and will help you get to those applicants much faster.

Enjoy!

What do you think?

We hope that it makes finding the right people to interview even easier!

We’d love to know what you think…feel free to email us with feedback(kim AT clearfit dot com), or tell us your product ideas at ideas.clearfit.com.

What’s next?

In the next month you’ll see a great new feature in your dashboard called ratings. You’ll be able to rate candidates you like and sort by your rating. We’d rate this feature a five star, but we may be a bit biased ;).

Spring Cleaning: Our latest product updates

Spring has sprung!

While our team is hard at work on some big exciting new features (more on those soon!), we wanted to tell you about some of the small usability changes we’ve made and new features introduced over the last little while. Think of them as a little spring cleaning.

Comments about Applicants

Comments can hold a lot of information that you’ve written about your applicants (4096 characters to be exact), but before you didn’t know you were getting close to the end of the field as you typed. Now we tell you as you’re getting close (yep, we pretty much ripped that off of twitter ☺). If you don’t know about comments yet, take a read about it over here.

ClearFit Job Board

As you know, when you get your job posted with ClearFit, your handy hiring coach sends you links to all of your postings around the web. Now you can also see your posting at http://jobs.clearfit.com. This will grow with time, but you can always check out your listing by searching on the top left.

Full Profile Changes

As you know, when you’re reviewing applicants, you have to click on the “full profile” button to take a look at their resume and full profile. We’ve added a couple of things to this interaction to reduce the work of the ‘ole trigger finger.

  • The full profile is now fully scrollable. No need to tab through each section, you can just keep scrolling and you’ll see the full report on screen.
  • Not the one you’re looking for? After you’ve decided to move on to the next candidate, and you hit back, it used to take you back to page one of your applicants. Painful! Now, ClearFit remembers where you were so you can move on to the next applicant.

Copy Job Function

We have a feature that’s been there for ages, but no one knows what it does (our bad ☹). Let’s say you want to re-open a job posting you’ve had in the past. Inside ClearFit you actually have two options from your job: hit Start Hiring or Copy Job.

  • Start Hiring keeps the applicants and just extends the date of your posting.
  • Copy job copies everything (job description, qualifications, etc.) and allows you to start fresh with no applicants (don’t worry, your old job stays as it is, applicants and all).
